As with most things, the Bow Tie Cinema in Saratoga Springs is not as it appears. If you look at Fandango, they don’t even touch upon all the cool things Bow Tie has to offer.
UPDATE: The Saratoga Springs Bow Tie Cinemas on Railroad Avenue was sold to AMC in early 2022 and is now AMC Saratoga Springs 11. Everything has now changed.
I had never experienced Bow Tie Cinemas until we moved to Saratoga Springs. We walked in thinking it was just a regular movie theater and were surprised to find all the awesome differences.
#1 Cool Thing that’s Different: Popcorn Bucket
The coolest thing we notice is the super smart popcorn bucket. The popcorn bucket comes with a clear, plastic lid. You have to put the butter on for yourself but you can put the plastic cover back on and shake the popcorn to spread the butter all around.
But that is not the best part. The cover makes it easy (and fun) to share your popcorn. It holds much more than I thought it would. So you pour some popcorn out into the smart cover and pass it down the row. Usually hubby and I share the cover and the kids share the bucket. But it all depends on who is sitting where.
#2 Cool Thing that’s Different: $6 Day
Last week I was looking at Fandango at movie times and prices and I noticed that on Tuesdays, the price is only $6. I went to Bow Tie Cinema’s website to find more information. Fandango was right! Bow Tie Cinemas calls it Super Tuesdays and all movies, all day are just $6.
#3 Cool Thing that’s Different: Armrests
The cushiony seats in this Bow Tie Cinema are already comfortable. Then add the fact that the armrests can be pulled up and out of the way. This is a wonderful idea for couples who want to snuggle. Or when the kids get upset by a scary scene and need to hide in your armpit. It even makes sharing the popcorn easier because you can get closer to the person with the bucket! The cupholders are in the armrests, so someone will have to keep their down to hold the drink.
#4 Cool Thing that’s Different: Cults & Classics
While I was on the site I noticed some other promotions. They show classic films and cult favorites. I had seen old movies listed on the marquee outside the theater, but I never saw them on Fandango. What’s lucky is only a handful of Bow Tie theaters offer these special films and Saratoga Springs location is one of them!
Here’s what you need to know:
- First Saturday & Sunday of the month at 11:00am Classic Films
- First Friday & Saturday of the month at 11:30pm Cult Favorites
(Classic Films examples are Casablanca, Gone With the Wind, Jaws, The Birds, and 1978 Superman. Cult Favorites are movies like Spaceballs, Rocky Horror, and Beetlejuice.)
There are just some movies that are better on the big screen. And some of these old movies are must-sees for the teens in our lives. We have talked about watching Jaws with the kids for years. It’s just one of those movies that everyone has to see, right? I can’t imagine Child #1 being able to handle it in a movie theater, but I think Child #2 would LOVE it!
Have you been to see an old, classic, awesome movie at the Bow Tie Cinema in Saratoga Springs? What do you think of the theater offering old movies for the big screen experience? What movies from your past would you take your friends and kids to see on the big screen? Let us know in the comments.
Thanks for reading! I hope this helps! :o)
